David Friedman (nascido em 10 de março de 1944, Nova York , Estados Unidos) é um percussionista de jazz americano . Seus principais instrumentos são o vibrafone e a marimba .
Friedman estudou bateria nos anos 1950, depois marimba e xilofone nos anos 1960 na Juilliard . Na década de 1960, ele foi membro da Filarmônica de Nova York e da orquestra do Metropolitan Opera , e trabalhou como músico de jazz com Wayne Shorter , Joe Chambers , Hubert Laws , Horace Silver e Horacee Arnold na década de 1970. Ele e Dave Samuels tocaram juntos em workshops de bateria antes de iniciar um projeto em 1975, chamado The Mallet Duo. Eles também montaram um quarteto chamado Double Image durante os anos 1977-1980. Mais tarde, Friedman trabalhou com Daniel Humair e Chet Baker , e lecionou na Manhattan School of Music e em Montreux nos anos 1970.
