O John H. Dunning Prize é um prêmio bienal de livros concedido pela American Historical Association para o melhor livro da história relacionado aos Estados Unidos. O prêmio foi estabelecido em 1929 e é considerado uma das mais prestigiadas homenagens nacionais na literatura histórica americana. Atualmente, apenas o primeiro ou o segundo livro do autor é elegível. Os laureados incluem Oscar Handlin , John Higham , Laurel Thatcher Ulrich e Gordon Wood . O Prêmio Dunning foi dividido cinco vezes, a mais recente em 1993. Nenhum prêmio foi concedido em 1937.
