Vida

Ele obteve seu BA no Rockford College e seu MA e Ph.D. na Universidade de Chicago . Ele serviu como professor de inglês na Northern Illinois University e depois no Georgetown College , Georgetown, Kentucky, por 35 anos, onde recebeu o prêmio Cawthorne "Excellence in Teaching" em 1991.
