Peggy Levitt é professora e diretora do departamento de sociologia da Wellesley College e associada do Weatherhead Center for International Affairs da Harvard University e do Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organization, onde co-dirige a Transnational Studies Initiative. Peggy escreve regularmente sobre globalização , artes e cultura, imigração e religião. Seu livro mais recente, Artifacts and Allegiances: How Museums Put the Nation on Display , foi publicado pela University of California Press.
Biografia
Levitt é professor e presidente do departamento de sociologia do Wellesley College e codiretor da Transnational Studies Initiative de Harvard.
Levitt foi CMRS Distinguished Visiting Scholar na American University of Cairo em março de 2015 e Robert Schuman Fellow no European University Institute no verão de 2015. Em 2014, ela recebeu um doutorado honorário da Maastricht University, ocupou o cargo de Astor Visiting Professorship em Oxford University, e foi professor convidado da Universidade de Viena. Ela foi pesquisadora visitante sênior nas Universidades de Deusto (Bilbao), Letônia e Valência em 2013, bolsista internacional visitante na Universidade Vrije em Amsterdã de 2010 a 2012 e Professora convidada Willie Brandt na Universidade de Malmö em 2009 . Seus livros incluem Religion on the Edge (Oxford University Press, 2012), God Needs No Passport: Immigrants and the Changing American Religious Landscape (New Press 2007), The Transnational Studies Reader (Routledge 2007), The Changing Face of Home: The Vidas transnacionais da segunda geração (Russell Sage 2002) e The Transnational Villagers (UC Press, 2001). Ela editou volumes especiais de estudos raciais e étnicos, International Migration Review, Global Networks, Mobilities e o Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies.
